Cookbook Review: "Tropical Taste"

Sonia Martinez is a cooking schoolteacher and food writer in the beautiful island of Hawaii. Born in Cuba, and having lived in the continental US, she decided to make Hawaii her permanent home.

In “Tropical Tastes”, we read articles that she has written about wonderful tropical fruits, as well as delicious recipes to help utilize them. Her articles also include history and health information too. With this fantastic information, the reader is armed to make delectable choices at the grocery store and bring a little Hawaii into their home.

Martinez is a wonderful cook, writer and recipe developer! Her passionate recipes are easy to follow and show the bounty of Hawaii, as well as offering the occasional Cuban twist! This cookbook was even selected as the Best of the Best of Hawaii Cookbooks in Hawaii!!!

Some of my favorite recipes are: Chicken Salad with Mango, Aloha Sweet Potatoes, Crisp Chayote Strips and Hawaiian Pie. They were easy-to-understand and delicious.

Take a trip to Hawaii without actually going there, and get this book. It is wonderful!
